 This Navy hovercraft was part of 'Fleet week' in San Diego. It came in from pretty far away but then just came right up to where I was and started doing all these maneuvers very close. Needless to say it was awesome (and pretty loud). There were also battleships, cruisers, Navy Seal speedboats, and other huge ships that help comprise the world's mightiest force.

After that, the Coast Guard hovered a helicopter over one of its smaller boats and 5 men dropped from a rope onto the boat...it was awesome. Then this helicopter flew so high you couldn't even see it and dropped a bunch of parachute guys, some of which landed on speeding boats. That took practice!

This event is held annually and well worth the trip. There were also a bunch of fighter jets and other military aircraft flying overhead. If you ever get the chance to go to this event, it's the only time the US displays its naval ships.

To top it all off, 15 minutes later was the start of the Red Bull Air Race, which is an awesome event in itself. I filled up two 8 gig cards and returned to my hotel with a scalp that was so sunburned I couldn’t even touch it. I’ll be wearing a shower cap for the next few days!
