There is a wonderful fresh fish counter at the indoor market (old fashioned market, not a supermarket/grocery store) in the town where I live. The customer was having some fresh gravadlax prepared. The lady behind the counter was cutting some wafer thin slices of salmon, adding salt and fresh dill as she prepared the special delicacy for the customer. I couldn't get close enough without being intrusive, so stayed a bit further back. I wish now I had had a longer lens, but....

I think it's a great composition; it tells a story well. No need to get in any closer, really. ;-)

What a fun and delightful shot! How did you process this?

Love the processing - makes the photo really pop. Great lighting, great focus, and nice composition. It really captures the feel of being there (minus the smell I am sure:-) ) of standing there at the fish market. I like this photo for it captures a moment and feel of a slice of 'culture' that has largely disappeared due to large supermarket chains.

Such an excellent image, Sarah!

HUGE bummer it didn't heave itself over six. But look at the commenters' average vote - pretty awesome. Love the colors in this photo and the processing.

Very well done!

I like this processing for this scene. The image is very busy, but the processing simplifies it. Very nice.

The slightly artifical processing really makes this stand out. Not sure about the title -- maybe if the woman behind the counter looked annoyed or bemused. I'm giving it a seven anyway.
