Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Movie Titles II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) for Canon
Location: Durham, UK
Date: May 19, 2008
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 320
Shutter: 0.4 sec
Galleries: Black and White, Blur
Date Uploaded: May 20, 2008

A re-shoot of a free study outtake, this time with a longer exposure to create the necessary motion blur. I didn't have my tripod with me so was bracing my 30D against the banister. The shot wasn't very sharp but smart sharpen did wonders and I'm pleased with how it's come out.

Editing: converted from RAW, B&W conversion in channel mixer, smart sharpen, USM, levels and curves layers, noise added, resize and another sharpen.

POST-CHALLENGE:

Thanks so much for the great comments and especially to yanko and xianart for the ribbons. I wasn't expecting a high score with this at all so to get another 6.3 is fantastic.

This is really cool. I love that the ghost is a blurry black. You must have held your camera pretty good because everything else looks pretty clean. Fun photo!

there's just something about the blurry figure going down stairs shots. they work so well. and this is a great example of one. these dark tones are lovely. the echoing bands of light complement each other perfectly.

As I've said before, you do awesome work and I love that fact that most of it is B&W. Nice to see it being recognized here, too! Great use of angle, light, motion, and a solid sense of giving a photograph "life".

awesome finish for this uncharacteristic DPC shot. Keep it up!

So nice. I really like the composition and light. The b&w conversion is very dramatic.

Nice photo and good conversion to B&W. Do have two areas with the highlights blown.

Ghost indeed and a scary looking one too. I don't know what it is about shadows and concrete but they go well together. However, what puts this over the top for me is that bright light at the very bottom contrasting the dark figure. I'm a sucker for religious and ying and yang themes so you get my YankO Red. Good luck!
