Pretty much what I went out to find, hiking along the shoreline of the lake till I found the right scene. Someone fishing from a rowboat, late afternoon so there was some color in the sky, conveying solitude, relaxation, tranquility and beauty. A lot to expect from a rowboat! But I can look at this and remember the glorious beauty of the spring day when it was taken, and the mood of the moment, far away from the picknickers and volleyball players and others more noisily enjoying the weather in large groups. This works for me.

Took the shot through a frame of tree branches but decided I liked the tighter crop better, where I could see more of the boat and fisherman. Hope I didn't overdo the colors; I wanted to keep the pastels of spring and just bring them out a bit. I'm not sure the composition is following any rule at all but it feels right to me ;-)

PP - converted from RAW, straightened, cropped, 2nd layer (Gaussian blur, lighten, merge in multiply mode), levels, burnt sky and cloned out some foreground leaves, dodged boat and fishing pole and tree highlights, increased saturation and contrast, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

How lovely! But, for me, the boat is just not as part of the photo as I think it should be. It is part enough for me to go with an 8. I hope that's ok?

That's not a boat, that's an insect. A dragonfly, yup. ;\

Lovely, the minimalism works well.

To darken the trees and their reflexion was a clever idea to make stand out this very little boat, even if the black area is a bit too dark and/or to big here IMHO.

Very nice. The boat is a little far away to have a major impact, but who cares it is so nice. A lot of painters would love to paint the scene you have capture.

Are you sure he's fishing?? He is just a little dot in the big scheme of this photo. Still a very nice image, love the overall feel to this. 6

I love it! The reeds in the front are a little distracting, though.

I really like the minimalistic POV in this shot. Only wish it were a wee bit lighter.

this must be the smallest boat in the challenge, but one of the most effective shots - well done - 9
