I had several photos to choose from for this challenge, I had no idea what to enter! I probably chose the wrong one (again).

This is Fort Amherst, it's located at the entrance to St. John's Harbour. I went out to get pictures of the iceberg that was fairly close to shore. I saw a supply ship off in the distance and waited for it to come in. The only way I could get the iceberg, lighthouse and ship in the same shot was to climb up the cliff. I like the old wooden boat behind the lighthouse (it's been there for years). It's sort of wistful to me, the old boat tucked behind the lighthouse, will probably never get out to sea again, sitting there watching all the ships coming and going in the harbour.

I want to be like MAK and put down an estimated score and a dream score but I figure if I am brazen enough to put down 6.5 it'll backfire on me and I'll only get a 5.2, so no estimates from me.

I like this image. Tells a story. Varieties of crisp colors are nice as well.

Loved reading your notes, what a great outcome score-wise. I also like the repetition with the boat in the back yard that's perhaps no longer up to snuff. And how its colors match the house. Great job eking colors out of what looks like a gray day. Worth the climb!

You just missed a 7.0! Congrats. Great shot, and I love the title.

P.S. Do you get that up-close and that personal that often with icebergs???

I can't wait to read where this is. The pile of scrap wood (?) is a bit didstracting, but you kind of have to look for it (and more wonderful things are competing for the viewer's attention). A seven for you.

Iceland? Beautiful shot, good boat trail with a lighthouse and a nice iceberg making it a difficult photo to get.

I went from "boring" to "hey, this really has something" in a matter of seconds. I guess you will have given the surroundings of the house a bit of an "enlightening", which gives that little edge. The house looks positively inviting compared with the harsh surroundings. The ice of course elevates it further from the masses. This is definitely an "I like it" picture!

The colors work real well. Great lines with the ship wake.
The iceberg is excellent, don't see many in Texas. :)

Just curious: wouldn't it have been more visible if the lighthouse were where you are standing? Anyway, not something one sees everyday - very good. I like the earth-toney colors and contrast. 9

Awesome perspective, great shot - love the wake left by the boat passing - like a lane in the water. I also really like the contrast of the cool colors of the water/boat/ice contrasted with the warmth of the land and the lighthouse.

nice take, the sky puts the focus on the lighthouse which may hurt you because of the anal challenge focused people

Karen... I humbly presume? Love this shot! It has everthing encompassed in one perfect visual presentation. Did you launch yourself in a hot air balloon to get this fantastic vantage point?:) My winning pick in a sea of many interesting images. Good Luck! If this is not the famed Karen.......
please accept my apoligies. It just strikes me as a signature piece. I think it is that wonderful iceberg that gave it away. I LOOOOOOVE icebergs!
Please send some down the New England coast :)

Hmmm An iceberg, this has to be in Newfoundland somewhere, me wonders who's image this is...but I could be wrong so i'll stop here.

Beautiful shot that conveys the calmness of the region. I want to live there.

Hey If I am right then the Icebergs are still floating in BC. Very nice image (you know that icebergs impress me anyway). Love the triangulation of the shot and the red/cyan white mix on the points of the triangle

Great POV

Great shot! In a perfect world, the shot would be better IMHO without the speeding boat and iceberg...with just the little boat on ground. But I'm a sucker for lighthouse shots and this is a nice one!

wonder how this would have looked without the boat in the sea, just the lighthouse, iceburg and the boat on the ground, still an awesome shot and one of my favs in this challenge 7
