I took this for the female portrait challenge but didn't have the confidence to enter. Oh well Maybe one day I'll actually have the confidence to enter.

Never mind the confidence factor. You certainly show artistic sensitivity. My strong advise is to pay close attention, do your very best and submit. The more you do so the more will you hone your instincts. Best wishes.

Thank you to you all for taking the time to help me to get over myself! I will enter challenges and whatever happens happens. I should as most of you said, stop worrying if my pics are good enough and enjoy something I love that helps get me through the days! And that is exactly what I will do.

I don't see where the "No Confidence" factor comes in. The photograph is well above average IMO. There are a few things that could improve the photograph like softening the Shadow under the chin and "maybe" the eyes being a little sharper. But with that said the photograph as-is would of received a high score from me. The model is elegant and very photogenic. From a technical standpoint I like the lighting, tilt, composition, focus, and tight crop. For someone that has no dreams of becoming a professional photograph, you truly have the talent to be.

Get the confidence, you will succeed! Great Photograph.

What they said! It really is good! Besides, if you are doing self portraits, you have way more confidence than me. Of course, I'm not nearly as photogenic!

Nice pose and sharpness on the eyes, I would echo Camabs and say that it would look even better with some sort of underlighting to soften the shadow under the chin. I like how you had the face fill the frame, gives it an "in your face" look, suitable for the attitude of the shot.

You can never tell with girls... Is this one somebody with no confidence? This one could stand for the movie titles too!
I love it!

I think it's a nice portrait. I would have probably voted it a 6. I like the composition and the subtle balance between the dark colors, but I am not too fond of the eye being cut off by the hat and the shadow under the chin. Nevertheless, I think this puic is certainly worth entering.

Thank you Both, and yes it's me which is probably another reason I didn't enter it.

I agree the eyes could be a bit sharper. But besides that this is an awesome photo. Great lighting, composition and color. You should be very proud of this photo and should have entered it. There are some days I get gun shy about entering for fear of getting a low score but then I do it anyway because I love my photos and I want to show them off. Yes I do get low scores because my photo doesn't appeal to the masses, and yes it really hurts but when it is all said and done I still like my photo. I have learned alot from this site. Good luck in getting over this phobia.

I don't do people pics myself, something I should really learn, so probably not the best person to offer critique! Personally I really like this shot, the model (you?) has a great look which draws me into the photo, the bright eyes are great and I personally really like the lighting, the angle of her head and the hat ... all in all I think a great shot. The only slight criticism I can offer is maybe the eyes could be just a teeny tiny bit sharper
