This photograph is a depiction of the more complex artwork done by my friend Iva Kuzmanovic, who is a panting student at our Faculty of Fine Arts. Her objective is not quite obvious from this photo, since it's just a fragment of a bigger work. Her goal was to point out the poor situtation related to the procedure of getting a visa for visiting foreign countries. Most of the young people in Serbia, who would like to travel or study in foreign countries, are frustrated with exhaustive process of getting all the necessary papers and documentation. Sometimes, the list of papers has no end. You have to provide all possible data about your entire life, sometimes up to 15 documents, you have to buy the plane ticket in advance, then you have to wait in lines in front of the embassies, sometimes for 8 hours, then you have to wait for 7 days to get the response, you never know if you're going to be rejected or not, and then finally, if you're lucky enough, they give you a stamp in your passport in the last moment, sometimes even on the same day as your scheduled flight. Just like they put those meat inspection stamps on animal flesh.

Just clicked on your profile and rediscovered this photo. I remember how impressed I was by it when I viewed it in the original challenge, and it has lost none of it's impact. Excellent, thought provoking work.

lol well this is very different. Did you choose to oversharpen to make her stand out from the background? That kind of works but it added a weird distortion to the numbers and hands on the clock.

1 - Don't understand the look on her face. Don't understand why you would want to take a 'practical, everyday (albeit rarely seen) happening' and try to turn it into 'art' (this is hardly photojournalistic). Don't understand your message, if you have one. Not sure that I care to try. I may look pc to see if you 'made notes', but otherwise, this is probably just another 'shock factor' image that portrays things that some people see every day - again, in a practical sense. The death of an animal shouldn't be 'showcased'. It is what it is and serves a purpose. Yes, all my opinion - but you put this out there. I am not 'shocked' by it, nor disturbed - only by your mindset in conceptualizing and capturing such an image. The photograph itself is quite well done and processed - but that doesn't change the fact that this is a staged image that twists something......... for what purpose, what. And your title only cements my translation of the image. Normally I'd give an extra point for creativity, but not with this. If I get no other message across (yes mine, not yours - hence the 'comment box'), this is disrespectful to the animal.

This really intrigues me, and is a photo I have viewed a number of times. Aside from any story or purpose, it is a technically sound image; on an aesthetic perspective, it works very well with its thoroughly balanced composition and excellent colour palette and tonal range. The narrative has, to a certain extent, gone over my head - I can see the relationship of the clock to the title, but not the other elements. This is by no means a criticism , I am thoroughly looking forward to reading your explanation. Without being able to explain why, I admire this photograph tremendously.

Edit - numerous typos

What a bizarre portrait. And a cryptic title. Looks like there's a bad halo around her from editing. Fix that and you've got a great photograph.

Talk about your quirky, unusual, odd sort of shot. Very interesting, sad, entertaining, all at the same time. Nice background color & texture. 9 for the strange, cool, creativity.

NO NO NO NO NO, I had a pet pig I adored, I couldn't eat them anymore! Seeing this picture although a powerful emotion evoking image, disturbs me. But I guess that is the objective of the shot and so you certainly achieved that and on that basis and the technical aspects of the shot I will vote not with my heart but with my head 9

I don't know if there is suppose to be some knee jerk reaction to this, but I'm disappointed in it. Photographically, this is a stunning picture. Subject matter... come on! That poor Wilbur has been dead for a while now. Last moment my foot ;)

very quirky! I like the composition and the dark green background, not sure what the message or story is though? The fact the pigs been gutted makes it a little odd for her to be holding it like a pet? Interesting though, I like the off the wall entries.

I love cool and quirky portraits and this one fits the bill! great pose and expression. I like the clock in the upper left as well. You did oversharpen or something tho - there is a noticeable halo around the model and pig. still - tool cool not to like this!

Bold picture. Will probably draw higher than usual number of 1's and 10's. Good luck nevertheless...

Wow is all I have to say. The colors are amazing, and the clock on the wall...for some reason reminds me of death row, .. not to mention the pig..

Surreal. Seems as though she has a halo around her slightly. Hmm not sure what caused that. This is poignant and makes a statement.

I like it. Not typical and thought provoking. Edgy and artistic. Great elements for a unique photo.

Extraordinary image, with her facial expression contrasting the significance of the moment (to at least one of the parties), as does her clothes with his (assuming it is a male pig) skin. I think USM is a little over done. (not voting).
