Yeah, "Come on in. The water's fine!",,,, NOT

Yes, it was a rather high pucker factor moment shooting this at gator eye level at 18mm. But It makes an interesting photo, so no guts no glory. They are ok as long as they are smiling and you don't stir them up into a feeding frenzy.
The one behind the first one is about 9 or 10 ft long.

Yeah, 5 second delay is all you need! So how long is your monopod!

Oh, you are SO freakin nuts! No WAY would I ever get that close. Here I am checking to see if you were using a 300mm with a couple of extenders, but no.... NUTS! Just make sure your insurance is paid up the next time you shoot there. :-)
