Our two boys are really growing up on us. I shot this image in my 'basement studio' on the last day of the challenge. This shot is going to be a gift for my wife for her birthday. The two boys just finished another year of school (6th for Charlie and 4th for James).

A bit of a tribute to the classic Beatles Album cover.

Editing: Levels, curves, hue/saturation to desaturate, noise ninja, crop. Save for web. USM sharpened post resize and brightened a bit using curves, save.

A top 5 in a portrait challenge is VERY cool. Even more cool, though, is what a great gift this makes for your wife. Very handsome boys - definitely brothers yet very unique. Great job with the whole shot, from set up to processing. It reminds me a bit of a shot Timfy did awhile back for a family. It's a very effective portrait style. Congrats again, and on the new amazing PB score as well!

Fantastic, Peter! Now I have another idea I need to steal for a portrait of my girls. I'll wait a decent interval, but you'll know it when you see it. :)

Peter, many congratulations on the new high score!!! I have to say I genuinely think you were robbed of a ribbon on this one.

Forgetting about scores and ribbons thosugh and onto the important stuff, this is an absolutely wonderful portrait of your boys. Incredibly strong black and white conversion with a great richness of tones. I love the lighting set up and rather than an homage to the Beatles I see this as a testament to your own skill and ability

Definitely a keeper....not to say a framer

Brilliant job mate

very nice image. I would have liked to have seen more light on the darker sides of their faces.

What jumps out in this image is the slight increase in texture of the skin and the more intense look on the face of the subject on the left. The other looks younger and has a peaceful innocence to him. The mole becomes a point of interest that the viewer can't help but concentrate on. The lighting is incredible.

Very interesting.
The harsh light and extreme contrast would probably not work for a single portrait, but build really the composition here - and create between them an esthetic connection beyond their resemblance.
Their eyes are just a bit too dark, and therefore with less expression, but it's still a great job!
