Fourth Avenue as seen from the reflective red wall tiles of the PPG building, downtown Pittsburgh. Fourth Avenue is being doused in midday sunshine, but the wall is deep in shadow, so I got a nice effect. I hope this does well. I really like it, but it is abstract.
Post-processing (bear with me): I used two exposures from the RAW file as the bus was underexposed and the truck overexposed. Once I corrected that problem, I did levels and curves with some correction for the red cast from the wall tiles. Next was a heavy clarify (a PSP X2 function), a high pass sharpen, salt/pepper filter, some dodge and burn, and some mild cloning to touch up some distracting dirty areas on the wall. There was a saturation boost in there somewhere, further color balance adjustments, and noise reduction between several steps. Resize. Then USM and more noise reduction. I won't swear to the order of the steps. I prepared several versions, varying the steps with each one, and this one came out the best. |

this is absolutely fantastic .. such a brilliant image .. so abstract and gorgeous .. i love all those excellent shapes with the depth and colours ... so well seen, photographed and processed .. 10+ .. :)
