I have a new appreciation for the effort that goes into this type of shot. I have never been so frustrated that I wanted to throw several thousand dollars worth of camera equipment against the nearest wall until tonight. :)

IreneM, you have my deepest respect! I really wanted to emulate what you do, but it turns out that your talents are inimitable!

After two pots of coffee and 198 sugar cubes, this is as good as I got. Mostly, the processing was increase exposure values in Adobe Camera Raw, crop, curves adjustment, onOne Phototools to give a little color boost, and Neat image to reduce the noise.

The good news is that I figured out the high speed sync option with my SB-600 and my D200! Flash power at 1/8000 shutter speed off a reflector mounted above the coffee cup! I love it!

Excellent shot and congratualtions on your patience as well. The 50mm/1.8 works well and if you get into this IreneM style you might consider investing in a Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Di which she has used for many of her great drop shots. I purchased one a while ago and fell in love with it the first time I used it.

I hate you Nikon guys for that high speed sync option. Excellently done, though.

Fabulous shot! Is this an IreneM entry? If it's not, then please feel flattered by the comparison.
