 I have no idea how I came up with this. I have no idea how it will do. The reflection is a trick I've used before which is a black pillowcase in a cookie sheet with a half-inch of water poured over top. To get a really nice black background in basic, use a matboard and tilt it toward the subject. Light is less likely to reflect back into the camera. The nuts are lit with a flash bounced of a reflector above and behind the camera.

Yes, I see the spot. Yes, I'd love to clone it.

I would have liked it better without the leaf. The abstract nature of the steel pieces is reallly neat.
