ok here is how I did it...

All you need is:
- one kitchen
- one kitchen table
- some extra floor boards (left over from a floor job I did few months back)
- one cardboard box with a hole in the bottom.
- one handsome model (me)

I build a floor from the floor boards (actually I have no idea what to call them, but the "boards" click together easily) on top the kitchen table (in the corner) with a small (well small enough for my giant head) hole in it.

I put my camera on a tripod, placed the tripod on some kitchen chairs (so the height was right). I crawled underneath the fake floor. Sticked my head out of the hole in the floor. Placed the cardboard box over my head.

Then I did a few amazing poses with my eyes while triggering the camera with my free hands (used a laptop under the table that was connected to the camera with a usb cable).

I repeated this a few times until I got the model (still me) to do what I wanted to (I am not a professional model you know)

Selected the best capture and did some post processing ...

and the rest is ... well seventh place...

ps. I am a non-native English speaker (writing is even harder) so bare with me. I managed to misspell the title and most of you where kind enough to comment on it =)

how brilliant is this .. !!!
love the way you've let your imagination soar on this challenge .. an excellent idea and executed to perfection .. the executed comment is a bit of a lame joke .. lol .. that 'lol' is really only a very small chuckle coz my lame joke doesnt deserve a belly laugh .. i didnt think you'd understand if i put 'vsc' instead of 'lol' tho .. :)

First of all, your English is excellent and your sense of humor is even better! Second, thanks so much for taking the time to explain how you did this - and for taking the time to put together such a fascinating shot! And you are a pretty good model, too, despite not being a professional. Congratulations on an excellent place and score!

Great trick! Thanks for giving away the secret. I love it!

I'm glad to see that your spelling did not affect your score! A fine finish! People point out spelling errors, but as far as I can tell, they/we don't cut the score for them in a photography contest. *smile*

By the way, I got a kick out of another error in your correction of the first one... you've asked us to "bare with you"... (take our clothes off) *grin* That should be "bear with you". *grin again*

I'll be the first to say that English makes no sense whatsoever. :)

Good, fun image. I'm glad it placed in the top ten for you.

I misspelled the word lose with two 'o's at first but the administrators where nice enough to correct it for me...

Very well done! EXtremely surreal with a simple box in an uncluttered space and ... a head!

One of my favorites. For those of us creatively challenged, I hope you give us a quick "how I did this."

LOL! Funny! It's a pity about the typo in the title ("lose"), but these things happen...

I like the textures you've caught here.
07/28/2008 04:24:29 PM
fun:)

Ugh, that is one of my LEAST favorite spelling mistakes. Good thing I love the picture :P 9

Some people still don't know the difference between loose and lose!
07/28/2008 11:36:40 AM
Composition is mesmerizing. Superb.
07/28/2008 07:58:22 AM
This is great! Really makes you think. I'm sure this is well. It is was just a tad brighter, not much, just a little... I think it would win... it still may if people really take the time to appreciate the photo.
07/28/2008 12:37:51 AM
I thought of doing something like this & know even in advanced editing it's really not easy to execute it so nicely. I appreciate your efforts for this image.Honestly I didn't like the tones & composition too much.
07/28/2008 12:11:15 AM
Nice one, great lighting, no idea how you did it. Oh and you misspelled lose.
07/28/2008 12:09:42 AM
this should be popular...good stuff! I like the slight desaturation
