I started off with a dandelion in this glass and a three seeds lying beside the glass. I couldn't get the lighting right. No matter what I tried, it looked really crap. Got so frustrated I ended up throwing the dandelion away but threw the three seeds into the glass so they wouldn’t blow away (just in case I needed them sometime).
Immediately liked the look of the seeds in the glass and chose them as my subject instead.
Thanks for the great comments and score. And a big thanks to Judi for commenting she thought this was yankos or my shot. That really made my day!

Evening Irene - I knew that this would be in the top 10 (although I did not vote for I have had very little time). Congrats. The lighting and clarity is spot on wonderful! Clean and simple presentation which is minimalism at it's best. The 3 dandelion seeds actually gave me the First Impression of it being one seed falling down over time in the glass (one seed, three positions showing time lapse of a fall). Even now when I KNOW that it is 3 separate seeds I still see a time lapse of the seed falling; movement caught in a static object. Nicely done! Oh, and tis nice to know that I am not the only one that is a perfectionist given the frustration you had with the original idea;-)

The setup on this is hard to visualize. You used straight glass, yet we see a curve. Any setup shots at all you could show?
Fab as usual, love your stuff!

I've looked at some of your other shots and gathered that you did this on a glass table with a blue transparency over one flash from underneath, but how did you get the back to be glass too...? Looks like a curved product table made of glass/mirror? Or if you've already explained this in another shot, could you please point me to it? Thanks very much!

Sure, no problem. It's a small piece of dark tinted glass propped up on four tumblers. The glass is lit from beneath and from behind. I didn't use any transparencies. The tinted glass actually gave this cyen hue when lit from underneath (which was fine with me ;-)

Congrats again! I'm gonna have to shoot something in glass, lit from the bottom, w/a reflection, just to borrow some of your mojo. ;)

Lightning is not really uniform (more light on the right), but sharpness and reflections are very good (7)
