Taken By some shipping crates in the rapidly diminishing light... all I had was my sb800 so I made due and did the shot

she's pretty :) anyway, i think this fits the challenge well, and it's a cute idea.
but the lighting needs some improvement, IMHO. read your description about having only the SB800 flash - perhaps you could try bouncing it off something, like a DIY reflector? or a wall?

You should have exposed for the ambient light and used the sb800 as fill or to add mood or atmosphere or emotion or drama or just plain shadows.

the lighting is flat and without the title there's really no context to the challenge. sorry, but i don't see it.

Interesting, though a slightly odd scene.

great red dress and lipstick but the lighting seems a bit too harsh and i really don't understand it - maybe i am missing something....

I like the cargo containers which help tie this in to the occupation, great looking model and dress, my only criticism is the left edge looks a little distracting making that area darker would have kept my attention on the main subject rather than darting to the background every now and then.

Still a great shot and in my top 5

Hah! Nice contradictions. Even the subject of the book.

Hey, wait! That's where my new couch is!

Great concept but the lighting is lacking. Her face is a bit under-lighted.

Ok, I'm still chuckling. :) Where do I send my resume? This is a really well thought out concept, and a great shot.

Wonderful shot, I like the way you isolated the dress, the mood is perfect, and for sure Stephen Kind adds a flavor ;)
nicely done 9
