I usually shoot my entries on the first day of each challenge, which I did this time, too... but then, at the last few hours, I decided I didn't like the shot.

So, here's my alternative. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

Here's the original entry:

I'm hoping for above a 6.0... but I really don't think either of the shots would get me there. *sigh* I can't wait to see someone else make "Mathematics" beautiful and exciting. *rolleyes* I'm sure they will, though.

Edit: Voting has now started and after 39 votes I have a 6.5897... Wonderful! Even if it drops, I'm happy with this. A good surprise.

Wow, top ten! Congrats. This is a cool optical trick and good looking as well.

I just saw a photo of a calculator and it reminded me of how I thought someone else's Mathematics entry was yours. Decided to come back and see what your real entry was. Nicely done.
(PS: I think you made the right choice.)

This is great, Lydia! I love the motion. It adds just the splash of energy it needs to give it life and interest. EXCELLENT! Congratulations on front page honors :)

Not sure what the wooden rods symbolize but they sure do add interesting form. Curious to know how you got the one dice blurred while the others appear to be falling too.

more dice! However, the dice photos have been nicely pulled off. This is no exception.

Hot glue and a slow shutter? Nice shot

Interesting idea. Composition wise, All the elements work. Not a fan of the border, and I'm not sure the sense of motion works on just one die. It makes the rest seem suspended to me.

For some reason the sticks look 'too sharp'. Is it me or your editing?
