Day 25 of 30 Flowers

Another butterfly AND more purple! I'm in a rut ;-) But I'm happy to be here.

I have sharper shots where the whole butterfly is in focus but something about the clouds of purple and the DOF made me think of this as a vision of butterfly heaven. One of my more fanciful moments. And I really like the little bulbs on the end of the antennae standing out so well against the darker background. Also key to identifying the butterfly as a Northern Crescent since the little bulbs are orange.

Flower BTW is perennial ageratum.

Oh, and I had the 36mm extension tube on.

PP - converted from RAW, 2nd layer (Gaussian blur, merged in multiply mode), dodged butterfly and foreground flowers slightly, cloned out a distracting bit of shape in one "cloud," added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

Dainty and so pretty, and another excellent image for your collection of flowers.

I like the soft focus on this one. Nicely done!

Beautiful.

I'm drawn to the orange "windows" in the butterfly's wings. They remind me of stained glass windows. If this were my image I'd dodge some of the lighter ones to accentuate the stained glass feel.

Sweet light touch everywhere, and the bonus bulbs there if you look.

Sweet, rich color is the first thing I notice. Then I admire the dreamy quality. The little \"headlights\" on the feelers are a definite plus. Most of all I admire the silky BG. IMO soft focus shots are much, much more difficult that the tack-sharp ones & this one is very well done.

I'm not sure I'm dreamn' yet! Those little flowers up front won't let me drift away.

This has a lens baby look to it. I agree 100% with you - the dreamy effect is very nice and I would not change a thing. A favorite of this side challenge.
