Thanks for the comments(and the funny ones too). I had a few nitpicks with the image, like part of the right side not having enough DOF. I decided to come up with a paper abstract and after some work completely scrapped it.
Decided to reshoot the egg 15min before rollover. Being in a rush I didn't get the composition stack as good as this one but the technicals where more in place so I didn't post it and kept the original.

The overall abstract lines of the cracked edges was what appealed to me most and I wanted to highlight them. I wasn't going for something unrecognizable.

Voting phase was a rollercoaster ride. More than ever before. Scrubber gave me back 0.17 during rollover. Got plenty of 1's during voting. Checking in an hour before rollover, there where 183 votes in.

Amazing concept. Brilliant lighting that brings out the texture on the shells. Hope this does really well. Techo?

Gorgeous lighting. Beautiful job of giving every shell it's chance to stand out in the photo. I'm hoping this one ribbons too.

This will do well. It has to! Some may say its not abstract enough because you can tell they are eggshells. Boohoo. This is absolutely stunning 10. I hope it ribbons

Interesting lines. I like the way the light seems to be coming from withing the shells as it highlights the edges. I think for it to fit better in the abstract category perhaps going in a little closer would be nice... like perhaps cut out the background completely so you can't tell they are egg shells. I'd be interested to see this with an upward angle too... making it look like a tower. :)

Comment 2 from a non DPCer: My boyfriend was watching me look at stuff from across the room, he's a painter and said "are those eggshells? That's really good. That would make a really good painting"

Pretty cool. I wonder how it would have been cropped down, enough to take the curved sides out and diguise the identity of the material.
