I grabbed a few G.I. Joe type figurines and created this scene that has become all too real. I shot it with these figurines on garlic powder (looked better than beach sand) and I cranked up the contrast to give the photo emotion. It was shot with my Sony a200 and a 28-200 tamron lense with an aperture of 4.5, an iso of 400, and a shutter speed of 1/1.2 sec. I cropped the image and turned up the contrast...

I like the concept but the execution is a little short, I'm afraid. Seems really fuzzy and blown out. Lacking in detail. I can't tell if it's because of your original shot, or if you over enhanced it. I wouldn't mind seeing the out of the camera shot after the challenge.

I don't know if the intention was to overblow the picture, but for me, it's too washed out.
