My issue with this was trying to crop the photo. Anyway I tried to do it it just didnt't look right. Leaving the jacket in the shot anchors the photo and shows the contrast. If I would have croped to eliminate the jacket I would have only left the eyes and lost the mouth (which I think is important to the photo).

Wow, surprised to see this one finished squarely on 5. I didn't vote in the challenge but this one caught my eye. As some commentators mentioned, the inclusion of the blue sweatshirt probably hurt you in the score department. It would probably have been less of an issue if Riley's eyes were blue. I love the tilt in his head and the expression is very genuine.

It's interesting to compare yours to timfythetoo's ribbon winner. They are not disimilar, his is just more clearly overexposed across the frame. Your overexposure is spread equally across his face(flat lighting) whereas his shot shows a lighting ratio from side to side. This gives his girl's face more depth.

Sorry to compare yours to his but I think they are so similar that a comparison is helpful in picking out the reasons that his was well-received by the voters.

Keep shooting! Mark

It took me a few seconds to like this. Wow! Good use of OE to bring out the eyes. The blues and textures of the jacket add interest and give this some anchoring. A nine for you.

Very cool shot. The colors are great on this one. Saturated but not overly so. Love how his eyes stand out. Very good usage of overexposure.

loveley eyes! it is a nice shot, but IMHO the blue cardigan distracts, would be so much better if it would be a light or white shirt/t shitr/ cardigan..then the eyes would be more in the centre of composition

Pity about the jogging thingy, but the face idea is good and I think you've done it pretty well. The more-or-less correctly exposed item of clothing does distract though.
