Challenge: Where You Live (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
Location: Bibury, Gloucestershire
Date: Apr 25, 2004
Aperture: F13
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Rural
Date Uploaded: Apr 25, 2004

Cropped, red and blue channels adjusted to enhance the evening light, frame added and sharpened.

This is Bibury in the Cotswolds and is typical example of a Cotswold village.

Converted this image to sepia and I think this works really well, to add to the 'historical mood'. However this challenge is about 'where you live' and not 'when you lived' so I entered the colour version. Hope you like it?

This is a beautiful place. I really like it. I think that you should have got a higher place though but that is my opinion. I really like it. Great focus and great center. Nice flowers to the touch and also nice background on a beautiful day. GREAT JOB!

This is Arlington Row in the village of Bibury and these cottages date back to the 16th century. Unfortunately there was a car parked just out of shot on the left hand side. So this restricted my composition somewhat, luckily there is a small mound which I stood on to give the very slight 'looking down the hill' impression.
Thanks again for everyones votes.

Lovely scene. You selected a first rate subject and you shot it from a fantastic angle. The border could be smaller but the photograph is superb for the challenge. One of my favorites.

Nice picture, I would like to see a little bit more sky, the road in the left bottom is taking too much of attention. I would crop it just below the flowers. (8)

This place is awesome! Reminds me of hobbit town :-) I like how you have taken the road there to lead us into the picture, you can sink into it! Great job!

Every time I look at this shot my estimation of it increases. My only comment is I wish it were shot at ground level. From this perspective the structures looks miniature. . . homes for the Hobbits. I am not sure that is your intention. At first the pale coloring bothered me. But it gives a painted quality. Ok. One moere comment. Just a little sharper focus would have added immensely to this beautiful setting. BOL 7 from me

Nice lighting, and if that isn't a village view, nothing is.

Tew? Would cropping out some of the foreground grass/lbackground shed have been a good idea?

I like much: The originality and "oldness" of the place. The pathway.
I like less: Lighting a bit soft.
Score: 8

Very nice! I love the buildings -- they seem very "Harry Potter-ish" to me. Makes me want to learn more about where this is.

This is a idylic scene. Perhaps a figure or two would have brought it more to life.

Nice composition - the leadin line from the bottom left is very effective. Exposure right on.

Lovely photo and captures the spirit of the Cotswolds beautifully.

I live in Australia now but have spent many a fun weekend in the cotswolds and still visit there when I go home.

Very nice houses and nice light, showing good structure. I wish it was taken a bit more from the front. The houses are the main subject of the picture, byt the eye is lead away from the houses to the opening at the back, where the path goes in between the houses. You could still have use the path as a compositional element, but less dominating than it is now.

Beautiful! But it would have been better in landscape mode putting more emphasis on the houses.
