 A repeat trip to the scene of my "Q" from the August 2007 Alphabet side challenge:



I like the b/w processing and lighting much better this time around...hopefully sneaks over 6...

Editing:
Flip/ Rotate image to correct orientation.
Adjust levels, curves, desaturation using hue/sat
Noise ninja
USM at large radius for local contrast
Burned and dodged Q
Dodged background
Cloned a couple small flecks
Resize for web
Noise Ninja, USM, and a bit of dodge burn to increase contrast between Q and background.

Post Challenge: I am totally surprised! I really didn't think this would score too great mainly because it is just a "Q". Thanks for the comments during and after voting.

Hey buddy, I wanted to.be the first to congratulate you on the ribbon but because of my tardiness I guess I need to get the back of the Q (groan)

Beautifully observed and captured. Great B&W conversion and a wonderful textured feel. Tack sharp!

All this and the sox beating the twins in the play-off! All in all not a bad week

So what you're saying is if you work hard, apply yourself, study and try try again, you can improve? I do like this version better than the 2007 one. Very nice conversion as well. Great texture. And again, congratulations on another well deserved ribbon.

I like the fact that it is for sure a "q" but it seems to centered. Maybe a bit to the side would bake it good but I would liked to se it offcentered before I made a final quote.
