Empyrean: "the region of pure light and fire; the highest heaven, where the pure element of fire was supposed by the ancients to exist: the same as the ether, the ninth heaven according to ancient astronomy."

Clouds and sky, shot in infrared.

A lot of the dark here is the sky (infrared effect), but what made this bank of clouds most interesting to me was that part of the clouds were this deep, deep blue, as if someone spilled ink and it had seeped in here and there along the contours of the billows. It gave the cloud bank a roiling and stormy appearance.

You are really starting to become the master at the using the contrast of light to your advantage. Very engaging shot with tons of textures.

Very abstract with lots to "find" in it! I see a hello kitty face, lol~!

wow, I thought of Blake, too. That skewsme character is real smart. I hate IR, but I think you found a legitimate way to make use of it! You got a 7 from me.

Very Blakesian! Love it. I see a small cherub suckling a headless Napoleonic figure. A great cloud symbolizing a giant fart in the general direction of the narrowminded!

Sorry it bombed on you. Maybe in the abstract emotion it may have done well. This was one of those shots that had a lot of appeal for a small number of people, including me.

This reminds me of my stomach after too many cheap, greasy burgers. What is it, a volcano? It's fascinating.

I suspect these are clouds, but the neat thing is I cannot be sure they are clouds. And I find it strangely compelling, despite the fact I am not a fan of shots of clouds...

Smoke I take it, judging from the title, although this could also be a stormy cloudscape. Initially I dismissed the photo as having little to interest me and to keep my attention, but actually I think there is more to it. One to come back to later, I think.

Interesting. Perhaps you will win a side ribbon of one sort or another.

Very cool textures - a bit abstract, so I'm not sure how it will do here, but I like it a lot!! 9
