This looks more like a snapshot than a photograph. You may want to shoot outdoors if you don't have the right lighting equipment for indoor work.

Disable that flash! It ruined a good shot. You have flat shadows, and dark people. The flash reflecting off the white door and orange wall is so bright, the overall exposure is too dark for your figures. If you feel you must have a flash, get a detached one so you can at least hold it to one side and get shading.

It would have been nice to see the mother's face...

this is a nice idea-would you reconsider shooting this same shot but on a white background and getting close to the subjects -easy way to do this would be to tape some white butcher's paper OR white non-wrinkled bed sheet to wall and set up 3 lamps w/o thier shades for lighting-try it in black & white mode( & no flash) or have subjects wearing all white. I would love to see the reshoot if you do it!

I was a bit distracted by the white fuzzy thing in the lower left, as well as the blue box to the right of the child. Also seems like it might be slightly out of focus, but this may be an artifact of post-processing.

Very cute idea and fits the theme. However, picture is kind of bland (needs more contrast). The background, the box on the floor, and the white fluffy thing (dog?) in the foreground takes away the attention from the subjects. I'd love to see the mother's face and the toddler's mouth (without pacifier). All in all, great attempt!

Sorry but this is just a nice snapshot. There are too many distractions and the image is very washed out and lacking in detail. The distractions: a box on the floor behind the boy, a tuft of fur (the dog?) peeping out from the botttom edge, and most of all the edge of that white door and its stained glass panel. Another problem is you can't see mom's face. Even though it meets the criteria in terms of subject matter, I have to vote low on this one.

This is a very dark snapshot that even in a family album would lack appeal. The mother's face is completely blacked out by her hair and the dark clothing makes her lost against the dark wall and circle of the window in the door. The best part of the shot is the little kid's pose and the pacifier. The blue colors he's wearing sets him apart from the rest.

it sure does.
