A view from the South Ridge trail at Sky Meadows State Park in VA. The weather was a quick-changing mix of sun, rain, and mist, which made for an interesting sky and a warm and wet hike. Pretty place, mostly peaceful except for a few other hikers. A little too early for the spectacular fall foliage in the Shenandoahs, but I love the area around them regardless of the time of year. Lots to see no matter where you look.
The white building in the distance is the park's visitor center, in case anyone was wondering.
I'm usually more of a small picture person, ocussing on the butterflies in the meadow, but sometimes you need to step back and take in the whole view :-)
PP - converted from RAW 3x (normal, +1, +2), merged with HDR function, white balance, healed lens vignette, dodged foreground and middle ground, increased saturation and contrast, added border, resized, sharpened. |

| a gorgeous scene with the various shades of green and yellow - i just wish there were a main subject for us to anchor our view |

| This looks like an HDR to me. And while there are many times where I like that look the yellows on the left side are distracting me on this one. Specifically the bush/tree half way up on the left looks really grainy/artifacty to me. Also some of the foreground browns appear the same way to me. I really like the clouds and everything from the big trees on the right back, but the left and foreground really hurt that for me. |
