I know right away this shot wont win me this week's challenge. Judging from comments I received for my photo in the last challenge, this shot will get extremely good comments/ratings and extremely bad comments/ratings. No in between. I guess it will be a case of I-like-it-I-don't-like-it. BUT I'm submitting it anyway because I want to see the overall reaction and because I personally like this shot. / Theme this month: "Use a single, artificial light source to dramatically light the subject of your choice." . I think the subject is dramatically light, don't you? :-) By the way, there is only one light source. Hope you like it. :-)

i liked it .. question: is the color a photoshop toning effect or is the light actually that color?
10/28/2002 12:20:00 AM
Awesome Pic, Really love the lighting. Wish some more folks could see past the nudity...

whoa, almost a nipple :=0

I think this would be stronger both photographically and politcally if it were made darker and the tone range compressed to make the lighting starker or harsher.
10/27/2002 08:46:00 PM
powerful image; good tonal distribution; a bit ambiguous as to light source emphasis.
10/27/2002 03:17:00 PM
Nudity in this case gets you nowhere...1

Political commentary AND a hot babe. Thats as good as it gets.
10/24/2002 06:34:00 PM
Great shot. I wish i had your imagination (and girlfriend).
10/24/2002 04:50:00 PM
I would never have thought of using the light like that. Good job.
10/24/2002 01:13:00 PM
Excellent compositon!. Great concept. I just like the picture.

Did she get locked accidently in the ferret's cage? I think I see the intent here, but I don't think it was accomplished. The lighting is pretty good, the circumstances are just too hokey. And does she NEED to be undressed? Its definitely NOT that I mind at all. Just maybe not here. Good effort - Good luck - Good day - Inspzil

Very odd picture, but it perfectly done! Thank goodness for the bar going across or I know this would be cut from this challenge. I also really love the green tint to it.

Hey, why don't you show some guy as a laboratory rat? 1 Journey

I just love the lighting in this shot.
10/23/2002 03:53:00 PM
For some reason this is quite kinky to me, not the cage maybe the distractive board
10/23/2002 12:14:00 PM
nice lines and I really like the tone. the whole shot brings up questions... is this a chicken coop? if so, why is this woman in there? and why is she nude? -is this saying women are just egg factories? anyway, cool shot! (9) ~mcmurma

I was intrigued and interested in this image. Although the message is dramatic and disturbing, it is clean and classy, without over dramatizing the point. The cropping provided a more opresive sensation. Did you try it also in darker plain B&W? Good job!
10/23/2002 05:25:00 AM
It looks like a rabbit cage, but that sure is one hot looking chic!!!
10/22/2002 10:17:00 PM
VERY nice!

the boys should like it

A very good looking woman, but why is she trapped in a cage? This picture captured my interest because it raises so many questions. The lights are nicely balanced and I like the toning of the photograph. All in all it's a good work!
10/22/2002 02:35:00 PM
Very provacative and unique.
10/22/2002 03:05:00 AM
Very good image, great quality in the composition, great dramatic quality supported very well by the illumination. Good luck in challenge. 9 jcof

The face, the naked body, and the menacing play of light is convincing. The rabbit cage as a whole is less so - it appears that one could easily take that stick and batter the wire away to escape this imprisonment. A tight crop, eliminating the white hotspot, causing the diagonal board to meet the edge of the frame would have created more of a sense of containment. Regardless of that, I am still going with a 9.

No doubt there will be the usual ante-diluvian comments against your photograph. I think it is a fine work and score it so. 8 Jak

Wow. What a brave girl! I really love this shot. Love the tone you chose. What kind of box IS that? A cat house? I like the pose and expression. A more straight-on angle might have worked to prevent some of the distracting elements like the sides of the box that show on the left bottom and along the top, but it's not a biggie. 8 ~indigo997

interesting and great composition.
10/21/2002 08:12:00 PM
Great! I like your choice of sepia and the lighting is very nice. Very imaginative. Makes me want to be twenty again so I can pose like this!
10/21/2002 07:46:00 PM
interesting. i like her expression, very sensual.
10/21/2002 06:47:00 PM
Went too far. Some people will find a way to put nudity and sex into any challenge. Doesn't belong on a family web .
10/21/2002 05:43:00 PM
can't complain about the subject matter .. and ther lighting brings her out well 6
10/21/2002 05:31:00 PM
Very nice
10/21/2002 04:09:00 PM
excellent, the expression in the face says it all!
10/21/2002 01:35:00 PM
Excellent work of art. Skilled use of the light source. The controvertial theme the photo suggests will might draw critizim from some. Most will love it, some will hate it, but none will forget it. I think you've got a winner here.
10/21/2002 01:22:00 PM
great pic! seems like the fence caught your focus tho, not the girl. i would have like the light to be coming in from camera left, front of the cage. mag99
10/21/2002 12:34:00 PM
i usually don't like fenced in subject whether animal or human--i like this concept--the shadows are excellent--good image--9bobgaither

This is the kind of picture I live for. Very well done. She (and the picture) are a perfect 10. (now if I could just get my wife to let me post her shots on my website!) www.mat-man.com
