I took the picture through a modified CD holder to create a distorted look. Cropped. I put a red vignette on it. Levels and curves. A lot of futzing (especially when you consider the score I'm going to get!).

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Well, my first reaction was probably along the same lines as many of the voters. It's messy, abstract, doesn't seem to have a good focal point, and may be a stretch for the challenge. I think the title plays a very significant role in this shot. Without it, I don't think anyone could guess what the shot is. However, with the title, it is very creative, and a different take compared to the many Red Riding Hood entries. It is a clever idea, and I like that you experimented with the CD holder and editing to get a unique feel. I just don't think it compares to the clean, crisp, quality shots that DPC voters tend to adore.

As for the shot itself, I can tell it's taken in some sort of outdoor area, which fits the Riding Hood story, but the person doesn't look much like a little girl in a red cape. She appears to be wearing jeans, hiking boots, and some sort of backpack? Little details like that may have improved the score. Maybe a picnic basket too. I'd also bring down the spiral blur a little, if possible.

Your portfolio is filled with a wide range of shots. It appears you know how to appeal to voters, but also have a very creative, out of the box side of you. I applaud you for continuing to take these unique, interesting shots. It forces voters to look at shots they would otherwise pay not attention to. Keep it up!

You are a maverick.

Wow, I can't believe I beat this out for the brown! I suppose mine got more low votes for having a high "WTF?" factor . This makes up for CharlieBaker beating me out for it in the "Harsh Environments" challenge. Can you give yourself a Posthumous ribbon? I guess not because you definitely know who took it. I like the idea of the wolf's viewpoint. (Did Little Red really wear Levi's?)

Definitely out of the box. I'd be surprised if this doesn't get a posthumous ribbon! ;-)

Interesting perspective (i.e. - as seen by the wolf) but not on par with some other shots. Clever idea, though.

I'm afraid whatever effect you've used has made it very blurry and hard to make anything out.

Sorry, a bit too bizzare for me.

Really clever attempt at the abstract. I just don't get that "wow" factor from this.

OK....if this is seen by the wolf...then this must be a very skinny wolf because his (this wolf) vision is off and it will be hard for him (this wolf) to hunt any prey without getting dizzy. In fact, I am getting a bit dizzy looking at this...but I do find that kind of fun. :O) I have no idea how you did this....but the more I look at it I find it kind-of cool. Yep, very dizzy now.

I thought the wolf had big eyes and could see real good. ;)

LOL....very cute and clever idea and I "get it" *smile* However, my bet is that you're taking a beating score wise because it's not a traditional "perfect stock shot"??
