Thanks for all the great comments. This was a fun day of shooting but this shot was taken at the last minute as I was heading back to the car and was my last shot of the day. I would have like to have cropped it a bit lower but there was a car on the road in front of the window so I had to crop higher. I loved this guy, he looked like he was having a hard time with his studys but loved his intense look.

Very interesting processing. This looks like the cover of a first edition from an alien teenagers comic book collection.
Excellent.

Great shot! However I would love it even more if it was not so over-processed - it does look kinda like a poster...

This brings a genuine smile to my face. Am I the only one to remark he looks like a young Stephen King?

This is an awesome image. I love your processing, which makes it look like a poster to me. The window reflection gives it a really nice quality. He looks like a labeled museum display. Great title too. Congratulation on you high placement.

Glad this did so well. Coming back to it, it looks even more together, and now of course I realize it is Superman posing as Clark Kent, The Human.

The processing looks almost like a drawing, but it works well. I'll be looking for this one in the top ten.

Great catch. I like the b/w choice, but the post processing is a bit hard for me.

The post processing is very painterly. The window sign with the subject in the window is a nice study. I am not usually fond of this type of post processing, but do feel it works well with your overall feel you're going for.

I like the subject, the composition and the technical capture. The post processing is dramatic and I can certainly see this as a publishable photo. My personal preference would be for a less harsh presentation, but that's a personal reaction. Well done!

My very first impression was "Cool! Poster!" Next was "not sure about the processing" but I've come to think the processing is just what is needed here. The person, the Human, is almost a caricature, almost not quite real, but still quite real. So intense, and so utterly unaware of the perfect picture he creates underneath the sign. Great catch.

Well, this is the very first shot I see and I'm afaid it's all going to be downhill from here. A fairly modern processing touch on a classic genre, but I think it works. 9

I really had to look at this to see if it was really different editing or, what was really in this shot! VERY INTERESTING SHOT! It's not until you really look that you figure out that it's a sign above bistro tables and chairs! Now if only someone had have sat down there or you had have shown more of the table and chair??? I really like it! The more I look at it, the more I like it! :)

coming back to comment only:

Your pp on this amazing capture gives it a slightly eerie quality as if the human is on display as a human.. doing what a human does .. the position of his body, neck hunched over but shoulders straight back looks slightly uncomfortable - love it.. the lines and textures fascinate me.. the pure blacks and whites and all the shades of grays are wonderfully represented - everything works in this photo. One of my highest votes.

nothing to say about this photo, but WOW!

edit: WAIT! I have something else to ADD! That's the freakin' human bean in Cobourg! I've stopped there a few times while taking highway 2 down the coast.

I win!

The image is way too glamed-up in PS the have a true Street Photography sense or feel. It has far more of a commercial feel which gives me the odd feeling this could win. I wouldn't be surprised.

The boldness and of the letters makes for a great combination with the intensity the man is reading what he is...
