Well, this one has a quality that I JUST LOVE...FOG! And beautiful fog too hovering gently over the bridge and above the city line. I appreciate the detail of this photo and can even see the people standing below on the rock! Black and white is a perfect choice for this shot. My only nattering naybob comment is that the water has a slight glare to it, but probably my crappy monitor at work which is not calibrated. All my warmest wishes to you, Robert! Mother Nature is complaining that you (her favorite photog) are not out there taking her portrait (even though she looks best in a landscape...haha)!

So, get well very very soon...

Tis a magnificent view you've given us - all the more splendid that it is in B&W as it adds that nice timeless feel. For monitors that are too dark (one of mine is) the detail in the main land mass is hard to distinguish. On my other monitor, however, it is spot on. The water is splendiforous in it's luminosity, and the skyline so nicely encased in the bridge is highlighted by those awesome and very cooperative clouds. Sadly, the DPC limitation also limits the grandness of this view. This is one of those that really needs to be printed and viewed much larger than monitors permit.

First off, this is an amazing perspective, packing in a lot and keeping it all in balance. Your use of the light for the broody swirls of clouds and the glinty texture of the water together with the very dark darks for the rock and bridge masses shows us what the eye normally wouldn't be able to take in all at one glance, and this is what makes it a challenging picture to view. As well, the muted background of the cityscape is not what one expects to see at the top of your water ess. And portrait mode is challenging for finding a place for the eye to rest. I happen to like stuff that challenges me, that I don't "get" right off the bat. AND it really needs a bigger size.

Hey Bear, nice processing and detail, including picking out those fishermen down on the rocks below. I really like the way you pulled the texture out on the water -- that light gave me problems, so I went a different direction on my entry. (no vote, comment only)

I know that the golden gate bridge is impressive, but if you cut this picture in half (horizontally), the bottom part is so much more interesting than the top.
