Thanks for all the interesting comments. 17 1's 15 10's That's some sort of weird split record for me.

I love this image. My wife says it makes her physically sick. Clearly something to continue.

I think it's lovely in a kind of an impressionist way, but I (like your wife) had a need for things to be sharp and it does make me a little sick to my stomach if I look at for too long.

Lovely full frame dimension - 19th century impressionism, lush, romantic, pretty. "...what lens is this?"

Great impressionist like photo, lovely colors and light. Underrated for sure.

I'm so happy you put it in this particular challenge, gives viewers a wider perspective on what being a "master" means for the visual arts. Such a warmth and liveliness to this scene, really good job with defocusing.

I'm surprised to see this bokeh from a Canon product, or is it? You didn't list your lens and I'm thinking this was not a Canon lens. Please tell.

Way to go Gordon! methinks some dpc'ers are 'revolting' lol. I very much doubt we will ever see this type of shot really fit in with the dpc 'style' but its good to break the mold sometimes :)

Viewed from four feet away this is genius at work. A pity that the DPC audience isn't sophisticated enough to appreciate it. Thanks to DLPhoto for the hint!

See, told you you suck, you canĀ“t even keep it in focus :) Cool shot but have seen better bokeh, what lens is this?

Unbelievable... Sure, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but never thought it would end up so under appreciated score-wise.

I thought this was lovely. Ah well...... Sorry it was not as well appreciated by the voters generally.

When daydreams become visions
And thoughts grow beyond time
Behold as the "End of Summer"
Melts into the sublime.

A photographic treasure...;-)

I contemplated submitting a shot against the grain, too. We both know it can't possibly end well, though...

Regardless, your bold endeavor demands I pay closer attention!

Fairly nice bokeh from what I can tell here at this aperture. The COC are nice & not too busy, so that is pleasing. I love the hint of a scene with the person next to the tree. She (I say 'she' because of the colors, but I s'pose it could be a 'he') looks like she has a picnic blanket in front of her, likely folding it up given the title. Strong vertical elements that the grove of trees supply here adds a nice fairy tale element to the composition. The downfall here, IMO, is the lack in contrast & saturation. I'm begging for those highlights to be contrasted by deep dark greens everywhere, not just one small tease of a patch across the centre.

This has a nice impressionistic element going strongly for it, and I like the storytelling that takes palce in the title and the action. Ultimately a little more strength in the palette would have brought it up a notch or two for me - good luck! -- 7 --

Bravo for being so out of focus. It's beautiful to look at. (bokeh pointillism)

hmmm... Was this on purpose? Brown ribbon? Well if you arent going for the brown ribbon, I can only assume that you are trying to infer that the summer is fading away. If this was your intention, then it works well enough but it could use a lot of work. 3

Good to see someone taking a risk with an arty concept photo at DPC
I some how think this is not scoring as well as it should, I think it deserves an 8

Gordon? This is really beautiful. The light in the trees looks to have been just perfect. This isn't DPCs usual fare, so I'm surprised that you're scoring as well as you are too. I applaud you for helping me (and hopefully others) broaden my (our) photographic horizons. Bumpin' you up.

Not quite sure what you were going for here... but it does remind me of an old oil painting. You know what the subject is, it's just not clearly defined until you take a few steps back an say 'a-ha!' :)

The play of light is truly extraordinary, I applaud your vision. Not only have you outgrown dpc, but you have created an enduring work of art. Isn't it wonderful to let go of convention?

I'm not really a fan of blurry but this is quite nice. Leaves most of the image to ones imagination which is a good thing IMO. HOpe you do well!

I like how I cannot tell for sure if there's a lone figure under the tree. It is what I see, though, and for me that's good enough. Beautifully rendered - summer as a memory.

I like photo-impressionism and artistic blur, but for some reason this makes me cross-eyed trying to bring it into focus. The bokeh in the trees is really nice. Perhaps if the person was in focus, my eyes wouldn't strain.

Almost looks like a water color painting, I appreciate the uniqueness of this shot and going out on a limb to present it in the mother of all challenges... 7/8 from me... I'll figure it out eventually.

Impressionism done correctly, IMO. I really like the effect of this. Was hoping to see more of it (different, less dpc-ish type of entires) in this challenge.

Wow. Guts. ;) Can't say it pleases me though. It's not bad, but as an abstract I think the top is dominated too much by the homogenous pattern. 5
