Rain clouds cleared today and I had to run out to the hardware store, so grabbed my camera and looped back through the abandoned military base at Mare Island again to see what I could find in the afternoon light. I had an idea for some buildings I knew about there but when I arrived the light wasn't right, but when I turned the car around this building was glowing at me so I had to make a picture. This was the first frame I shot, processed using the Cyanotype preset in Lightroom 1.4, then just a little USM and some Gaussian Blur in PSE, border S4W.

Pretty pleased with how this one turned out. Actually was a pretty successful outing for a quick half hour stop while running errands on a busy day. I ended up with four or five shots I considered for an entry, including a couple other shots of some broken windows on this building, as well as a direct positive processing of this shot:

i loved the comp on this one, think it should have scored higher! looks like an amazing site to be explored...was there no security or something protecting the base? oh btw some of your outtakes are hidden in your portfolio, and i'd love to see them!

Not sure what the blue processing adds. Intriguing all the same.

Oh, really nice the way you were able to work the title and STOP on the pavement into the image. I like the interesting hue as well. 7

I really like the angle to this and the stop in the foreground. It makes a bold statement. However, I'm not so sure about the bluish tinge to this shot. It kind of throws me off a bit. Why not leave it in B&W?

Very blue. Nothing else really pops about it though, it doesn't convey any emotion to me and just seems like a pic of an ordinary abandoned building. I like your title.
