This is my entry for the DPC Olympics III - Week #7 - Team Canada I

The secretary at work has this large reflective ball on her desk, so I thought I would borrow it. All the leaves where I live have fallen, but the forest behind my parents house is still very colourful, so I took the 45 minute drive to get to this location.

Nice one Jon. A memorable shot indeed. Have you tried to clone your tripod out, just for fun?

Congrats on the red.

yeah but to use a longer lens and get the same angle would mean he would have to climb way up into one of those trees.

Or maybe just clone out the tripod, screw the challenge and enjoy a wonderful picture that you can frame. This is cool.

congratulations. i liked the reflections on the reflective ball - it's amazing.
i guess it cant really be helped to avoid getting the camera+tripod in the photo as well, but i'd just like to say that, it would have been even better if they weren't.

good job on such a stunning image.

Lovely shot, very cool colours and the reflections are fun to see too. And don't forget, in Canada red is the colour of the 1st place ribbon! :-)

Congratulations on the Red! You know you have made an amazing photograph when the background becomes inconsequential to all but enhancing the subject. Very nicely done. :)

This one really caught my eye during browsing the pics (though I didn't vote in this challenge). I'm really glad this placed so well. Very well deserved. Really captures the essence of Autumn in a unique way.

Congrats on the ribbon. It is a great concept and the colors are really vibrant. The only thing is, the camera/tripod really kills the shot for me...don't you wish you could have done this in advanced!

Great shot! I like the idea.
I see your tripod, Maybe you could get the Military Tripod Camouflage Kit, comes with glue and leaves. I did an indoor mirrored ball photo and hid the tripod in a darkened room. You could also hide the tripod behind a mirror.

Beautiful! Really beautiful! I think if I drove 45 minutes to the location, I'd have taken the time to glue some leaves to the tripod. :) But, this is so deserving of a ribbon! It's beautiful. But, I said that already, didn't I? :)

This is very mystical and unusual, it's a shame you can see the tripod reflection but I see no way of avoiding that. The autumn colours are lovely and the polished surface is nicely eye-catching. 9.

If somehow you had been able to keep the camera and tripod out of the image, this would have been by far my favorite of this challenge. As it is, though, great image.

Front page possibilities here. I hate that I'm torn out of the beauty by the camera on the tripod in the reflection, but I guess some things are just not do-able in basic editing (or advanced for that matter). Careful cloning work for outside of DPC, however, would really cement this as a gorgeous reflective take on nature.

A little more work on that hotspot would help too ;)

i love it. I'm predicting ribbon!!!! I think the 360 degree reflection is fantastic, with the fallen leaves all around. Great color, and balance. My only concern is the shadow in the front, but I didn't even notice it until I looked at it a 4th of 5th time. Great shot.
