Oh Wow! Thanks for the ribbon and the super comments. A special thanks to Jon imagineer for taking the time to leave such a detailed comment. I really appreciate it.
Catching a shot like this using the “no trigger, just drip, drip, drip with one hand and the other on the camera” method ;-) is so unusual I just had to show it to you. My mouth dropped open in amazement when I saw the image in the D50 display. I know it’s not perfect but it’s one in a million, billion ;-) and I love the splash reflection in the water “stem”.
Anyway, a big thanks from me!

This photo, I will tell you, this photo is absolutely the worst examples that I have seen of one of an imitation of one of my pathetic (and failing) attempts at some kind of beautiful photography (AKA: Good Job and congratulations on your blue ribbon!!).

The D50 does it again!

Just send me the D700 as you are not using it, and I will put it through its paces!

One of my faves of yours and as always, I picked you :)

Ha! I KNEW it! A most deserving winner. And for what it's worth from a non-pro, the shot works for me as cropped. It is "balanced" on the diagonal by the weight of the lower left horizon, and the droplet farthest right. Also, the bulk of the subject is slightly left of center, with the motion towards the right.

Nice capture. Is this just plain water?

If you could see my nervous hitting of the update button every two seconds the whole week you'd know that a ribbon is anything but a drop in the bucket ;-))
Yes, it's plain tap water.

As usual, spectacular and congrats. The operative words though are "as usual". I guess I had the same gripe with Manny Librodo. When the viewers get to know your work due to the same subject matter, its time to reinvent. You certainly do have the talent and I'd love to see you use it in areas that are not so "comfortable".

This is obviously an accomplished shot but this kind of thing needs to be hangable to make it art, and currently the colour in this feels a bit drab and the viewpoint too high, so that the process looks too understandable (if that makes sense). A 90 degree plane with the water surface may yield more intrigue.

Just a couple of additional points: 1. it's over-sharpened, so I'd hold back a bit as it can spoil the subtleties, and it seems you've sharpened after adding a border. I'd do that last so you get a clean edge. 2. composition is a little awkward as it's neither centred or thirds, etc..

Cheers
Jon
