This is pretty much strait out of the camera. I probably will get some DNMCs from this because there was no lighting from the back. Ohh well not the first time that has happened. I was using my 2 new umbrellas with 2 580ex2s in the front left and front right of Damian and Alexis., triggered with a Canon STE2 Transmitter for lighting. Hope everyone likes it. My models are Damian and Alexis. You will recognize Alexus from my 4th place entry in the pets challenge.

PP:

When I took the capture I looked and I had these little dots of white dirt on the floor and some sort of eye crackling in Alexis's eye. I was frustrated so I was looking over the rule set to see what I might could use to get rid of just the white specs of dirt and such. I found the dust and scratches. What a powerful little tool. It got rid of almost all of the dirt and the eye cracklin. So PP included Crop, levels, small curve adjustment to raise the brightness, dust and scratches, curves, dust and scratches, curves, USM, neat image. Save for web.

Greetings from the critique club...

What a beautiful photograph. The poses are great, and shooting two dark dogs on a dark background is no easy feat! Technically speaking, there isn't anything I can add that would improve this photograph.

As for fitting the theme, "fill flash" is not the first thing that comes to mind. I wasn't able to vote for this challenge, but if I did, I probably would have given you a 6. Fill flash, to me, usually indicates that there is one light souce that is brighter and more dominant, and that the "fill flash" is filling in the darker areas. I don't get that feeling from this photograph. I am by no means an expert, and it is very possible my definition of fill light needs to be expanded, but I just wanted to share my opinion.

Congratulations on a wonderful shot.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

Congrats on top ten. Excellent shoot, I know how hard it is not to only pose one dog, but two. Very well done.

What gorgeous dogs and the pose is perfect. The light makes the fur shine, an outstanding pet portrait in my opinion and a prfect 10.

wow, what gorgeous dogs ... the exposure is perfect! Hard to accomplish with such dark animals against a dark background ... it's my guess that this will make the front page ... good luck!
