Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and votes.

The set up:
The cookie dough is sugar cookie dough. I made it just for this challenge and no I haven't eaten it yet. It is actually still sitting in my refrigerator waiting to be trashed.

I rolled the cookie dough out on my counter top and started punching stars in it. By the way I wanted to use a silver cookie cutter but I couldn't find one. It's a good thing too huh? Anyway I started punching out the stars in the dough and just left the cookie cutter in one.

The camera is about 2.5 feet above the dough aimed down at it. The lighting was strategically placed on the kitchen ceiling and above my stove. That's all I used...

Editing involved some slight cloning of flour, hue/saturation adjustments, a levels adjustment, and some sharpening.

Thanks again everyone for your comments and votes.

Great idea for this, the bronze-y cutter stands out very well, and well-lit. Congrats!

Great image Joe. Congratulations! I think your copyright message is a bit extreme for a 720 by 527 pixel image :)

Great photo, and in the holiday spirit, too.

I'm interested to note your copyright message, and surprised that's it's necessary. Do people on this website seriously copy/use another photographer's work?

congrats. I wonder how many people have a ribbon picture that doesn't appear on their home page? Frustrating but reassuring at the same time....

cute idea - and this is exactly how my cookies line up!

Pretty - I love the copper cookie cutter. Maybe if the light was a little warmer the dough might have tied in better with the cutter. The tones just don't mesh well to my eye. Maybe a warming filter applied just to the dough? 6

Nice lighting on this one. The border wasn't necessary, I don't think -- at least not to the left and right.

This is my absolute favourite in the challenge, I just love it! I thought of using a star cookie cutter and making cookies but I knew I wouldn't be able to make perfectly shaped cookies. But you were clever enough to use the dough. Smartie!
