Many hours of positioning lamps behind the door. I am still not happy with the result but ran out of time and patience. Lets hope it makes a 5.0+

[Dec. 20th, 2008 04:12:10 AM]

This was the third attempt. Finally realized I needed a little help behind the door to position the lamps to get the light beams right. 3 desk lamps used.

I also tried taping black card to the door and frame to avoid distraction, but the final look was not quite right.

levels, sharpening and resize for web, job done.

Fingers crossed.

Wow, a PB and my first ribbon. Just in time for Christmas too. Many thanks to everyone that took the time to vote and comment.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 7 or 8.

First of all, let me congratulate you on your first ribbon and personal best. Hopefully there will be many more ribbons to come in the future.

My first impression is that this image is very sci-fi. You've done a great job at getting this to feel right. I don't think it would have been nearly as good if it weren't for the light shinning underneath the door. There is no way of telling what room the tool is entering, but being in a house setting is related to where you would find this tool. This adds to the theme of personification. It's very difficult for me to find any flaws, which is reflected in the score you received. If I wanted to be really picky, I would say that I believe I can see the lamp on the other side of the door; the base and the head. All in all great photograph. I am sure you are smiling from ear to ear.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

Sort of an overused object for personification, but in this case your context really makes it fresh again. Good job.

EDIT: Just back to bump this up a notch. Good luck!

I like it, though to me, the scene looks more like she just caught him corkscrewing around with a strange bottle.

This is most likely doing very well for you. It's in my top three...

It is actually a personification image... weird. But, there are few of them in this challenge that really say 'personification' to me. Congrats.
