Picking up on a suggestion made by CharlieBaker in this thread.

Pre-challenge notes:
Probably a shoe-in (that's a shoehorn pun, btw) for the brown, unless Charlie decides to enter a black rectangle with a single white pixel in the middle.

I expect to get some interesting comments.

Post challenge notes:
Cleaned up on comments with this, and a bit surprised that I missed the brown by a fair margin. Here's the larger sized image, as some commenters suggested it would have been better without the huge border.

Nope.

That has to be the biggest frame I've seen on DPC!

What, the holiday bokeh is better there than your house? :-D

As a matter of fact, yes.

Do you always "travel" with your shoehorn?

Gotta agree....the thin green border is just too much!

Lol, I didn't have time to view the challenge but I KNEW you'd shoehorn something! I really look forward to seeing what you'll come up with :D

Way to take one for the team to make a really good point about some of the crazy borders that have been popping up.

I think it is time for someone to start handing out "Border Lowered Your Score" Awards for those that ruin a good photo with a poor border.

Great pic, but the thin green border kills it.

there is so much to love about this photo....NOT :P
if you were aiming for the brown, you gotta learn how to get it, it's not easy, i've tried!

And you cleaned up on the 10's too! (Maybe we should have a Big Border contest, or maybe a dedicated Big Borderer for each contest).

A great shoehorn entry it is and a wonderful border. 7

The border is too subtle. A one-by-one pixel window in the matte would have been more effective. No one likes a half-assed wise ass. :) 10 for effort, though.

I'll be really curious to read your explanation of why you choose such a large black border. Neat way to frame the photo on your wall, but it does make it difficult to vote on the pic. Looks like a neat photo. Very hard to decide what to vote on this one...

a bit unfortunate - i know you are playing a joke and get your laughs from it - i would much rather see some of your good work rather than this

That is one impressive border! Good clarity, super cheerful colours, and made me laugh. Have to deduct a point or two for the lens flare on the shoe-horn, though!

I really can't understand what you did there...the size of your photo is so small and what about this giant black hole? I think there may be bokeh there but i can't understand why you did this to your photo.

You're obviously joking, but I think that is the best multicolour bokeh on here. Shame it's not bigger because that is great.

lol looks like a cool image, i wish i could see it bigger!

I'm afraid this shot is just too small to see anything.

Oh lord. Now I have to go vote on all the others so my vote will count!

You need a higher resolution photo. I can't even see what i'm looking at. Your border is is way too large. I'm guessing you tried to shoehorn it in with the back border?

Yes, indeedy, the title says it all. I do think the bokeh is rather pretty and it certainly makes the shoehorn stand out. And I see you are quite taken with the "wider is better" concept of borders. I suspect you are enjoying your comments on this one ;-)

Ummm, this is a photography challenge, not a frame, or even a thumbnail challenge... :/

that's waaay too much border.
