Wow, after watching this hover around 6.1 all week I had no expectation of a top 5. Thank you so much for your comments and votes.

I had intended to make a border on this one but rushed through editing and only realized after the rollover that I hadn't. I don't think it would have changed it's placement (at least not positively :-)) but I much prefer this.

I think it helps improve the overall contrast and gives the "old time" movie feel I was shooting for.

Nicely done shot. I am sure even the color version would rock!
Happy New Year!

Beautiful and well suited for b&w and for the challenge. Very interesting to look at as there is so much to see, but that is appealing here. Love the different reflections caught in the upstairs windows. Nice detail and focus. The right side of the step is very dark for some reason. I really like this!

Wonderful details in this beautifully traditional Christmas shot.

This one has a nice almost old-fashioned feel to it.

This suffers from the size restrictions of the challenge rules. Looks like there's some intersting stuff in the windows, but it's hard to see. Nicely framed. Would have made a great long exposure at night, I think.

WOW - You couldn't get much more of a Christmas feel... this looks like a storefront straight out of "It's a Wonderful Life" - The black and white treatment works very well here... this should ribbon IMO - 10

Classic, pretty composition. The duotone pulls everything together.
