Macro of a crystal ball. Not much editing done.
Esposure adjustments mainly using auto contrast, levels & shadow highlights to recover the detail in the clouds. Sharpened. Applied 1 pass of Neat Image.
Then finally inverted.

You can see the original unedited image below to get a better idea how I actually set this up. The only thing that I took special care on was to shoot with the crystal ball positioned in the shade so that the sun would not show up as a hotspots (distraction) in the crystal ball.

Oh!! and thanks for all the votes.... Andrew

That is a great shot. Congratulations on your high finish. How did you support the crystal ball?

Nicely done. I like the sharp focus in the glass and the composition that includes the "inverted" hut in the back..

wish you would've done a square crop tightly around the glass.

At last, a proper transparency photo! The inverted hut on the right really sets it off.

I'll go ahead and say this is the winner. The only thing stopping this is the idiots that will say it is some kind of shoehorn.

Lovely glass ball photo. It looks like a wonderful tropical island, which I'm a real softy for 8.

This is so terrific. I'm just wondering why the background is so dull, while the image through the sphere is so bright.

I just love marble shots. I am biased because I have done quite a few myself but yours cam out much better. Hope it does well.
