 I really hadn't realised how tricky fish are to shoot. Our fish are far too well fed and warm, they practically sprint everywhere in the tank!

In this shot, part of the fin was nicely in focus but nothing else was - so I edited to that, emphasising the contrast between sharpness and blur and embracing the high key of the shot - I shooting through the aquarium directly at one of the windows in the room.

I like it, but it will no doubt fair badly against the likes of the wonderful pin sharp bird shots at which some members excel.

(Rather pleasingly, this is one of the few images I've managed to get published on 1x.com)

Greetings from the Critique Club

First of all let me congratulate you on a good score and the Post Lumie nomination.

On first glance at the thumbnail, and without reading the title of the image, I did think this was a very delicate flower shot. Obviously I realised pretty quickly on opening the image that it is definitely not a flower. (I'm pleased to see, reading others comments, that I was not alone in this)

I think the square crop/central positioning of the subject in this image works really well. The delicate tones in your processing enhance this photo a lot. Not sure a photo like this would ribbon on DPC, probably just a bit too soft and delicate for tastes around here. However, it did score well, so I hope you are satisfied with the outcome.

REALLY beautiful!!!! Edited to add...on a second pass through these shots, I've bumped up the score because it has to my fave for this challenge. The white on white, the focus....just breathtakingly beautiful. Also faved it.

I'm guessing a fancy goldfish? Interesting idea to go b/w. Still, I think the focus might be too soft, although the shapes are intriguing.
