It's actually a replica dinosaur egg, I can't remember exactly what type, I'll find out. From an exhibition here in Adelaide, quite facinating actually. We ( my wife and I ) were at teh exhibition whilst teh challenge was on and it just struck, jeez, these guys were unlucky not to have survived....hold on, unlucky, so out came teh trusty 5d mkii, cranked it up to a really high ISO and shot away. Was going to try for HDR but it sucks when your working in high ISO's

Stocked with a 4th place, first vote way back was a 4 if I remember right.
Cheers, Al

I like the lighting and composition of this shot. It's really well done and the border adds a lot to the shot as well.

You know, it's ironic that we went through a huge discussion on "artwork" in a photo and what categorized a shot that is chiefly a shot of a piece of artwork. Throughout that discussion, it was debated as to what could be defined as a shot of a piece of "artwork" and what was acceptable within that realm. This is clearly a shot (very well done) of a piece of artwork as it is man-made/a replica. Yet, it placed 4th in the rankings.

Clearly, if a piece of artwork is well photographed, it will do well.

Congrats on your placement and in this shot proving a point that was so very much discussed in-depth, mostly against this type of thing. It's proven that it's all in the way that it is done and not the artwork that's the issue. :)

that's amazing. Great textures and dof, and you didn't have to worry about the lighting! :-)

Hey! I had one of those in my scrambled eggs this morning! Nice composition and lighting but I'm not in love with the frame.

This is something I'd see in a science magazine (without the frame of course) Well done. Nice focus and I like the off centering. The subject might be off putting but it's really well done. I like the frame too. :~)
