Wow, thanks everyone for the votes and comments! I did (almost) everything I could think of to get a sharp shot--high ISO, fast lens opened wide, -1 2/3 exposure bias, tried to wait for the little guy (he's about the size of my thumb) to be both motionless and in the aquarium light, and I took lots of pictures in hopes one would be sharp. I didn't use a tripod or flash, though I may have steadied the camera against the glass.

I didn't think it would score as well as it did, since the tendrils were a bit tied up in knots. I like the black background because it gives it a sort of "outer space" feel to it, which I was consciously trying for. The crop was a thoughtless application of the rule of thirds--a tighter crop might have been better to get more detail.

This is amazing! I have tried to get good photos of those exotic fish, and have never been able to pull a good one off. That's why I appreciate the flawless excellence of this one so much! Congratulations!
