I thought that one of the most important basics in cooking gets sometimes forgotten with the chemicals and powder spices for lack of time. I wanted a photo that represented the importance of cooking herbs in a healthier nutrition.

I placed the herbs in little milk bottle caps held straight with clay. I placed them behind a container full of water to create the infinite horizon, I used the same principal infinite horizon pools have. Lit from the upper front and flash covered with a blue fabric from behind. Here I'm including a couple of pictures of the set up.

This is an excellent shot! I think it should have done better. The infinite horizon water looks great and was a creative idea - the ripples as well.

Thanks for sharing your set-up. I gave this a 10, sad to see it didn't finish in the top 5 or even 10.

A most creative take. The setup is very cool. Clay is certainly something every photog must have ;) I only have mixed thoughts on the cool colors reflecting off of the greens.

Perhaps the shot needed some extra light fill for the left side of the frame? Because the left most herb stalk(Basil?) isn't as illuminated as the others. Still, it's a great shot overall.

I like the concept of this photo, however the saturation of the green seems almost artificial. A bit less saturation, and a bit less contrast would put this photo over the top.

hmmm, I like it a lot, but it looks more like a painting than like a photo

The green seems a little oversaturated.

Fits the challenge, imo. I like the idea. Though I wonder how it might look if the ripple was originating from farther back towards the herbs...

Very artistic shot, but not really "stock" because of the water. Herb colors are also way too overblown.

More a photo of food than of cooking.

IMO the water in the foreground distracts from the overall composition. The herbs against a white background is very effective
