This, to me, is one of the neat things about trees. They have a life cycle like the rest of us, but are useful throughout, which can't always be said about the rest of us. Even in death they serve a purpose. I'm sure a whole host of insects reside here, and birds stop by to feed on those insects. And as it decays, it replenishes the earth from which it came. |

Good DOF, dull subject and composition. For a more "lonely" feeling, perhaps use more empty space in the pic? This feels overly crowded to me. |
