Wow!! thanks a lot for the votes. did not expect this at all. I do like the image a lot, but I expected the voters to vote this down as it is a desat.

Andrew...9th Feb09

First time taking the singapore skyline from this vantage point.
The 3 structures being built on the left are part of the multi-billion dollars Integrated resort being built in Singapore to increase tourism. This resort will house 1 of 2 Casinos planned. Scheduled to be open late 2010.

Capturing a grey citiscape is quite a challenge , thankfully the day was a bit of a grey and drab day. Did a HDR of 3 sequential shots, converted to B/W. Spent at least 2 long hours editing this shot trying to avoid the extremes and hopefully giving a surreal feel to the shot. Hope you all like it. I realize some will judge down because this is a conversion, so be it.

This is so stunning! It's sad all 5 winners couldn't be winners this time. The top 5 photos are definitely worthy of top awards. Congratulations!

I think your inclusion of the black border really shows that you don't have that much black in the actual image.

Also, its impressive that you still have a image with contrast despite the lack of extremes.

It's hard to get a really good skyline/landscape in tones of gray and you did an EXCELLENT job with this - your work with it paid off nicely, I think. Suits this challenge very well. Congrats on the 5th place star thingie!

CONGRATS ON 5TH.Great image, I love it and choose it as a fav. Although I did not vote in this challenge...as I glanced over the entries, this one stood out. Now that it is over, I was very disappointed to see how many are giving out 1s 2s and 3s to "what IMO look like winners" This could have pulled in a ribbon had the low scorers surpressed their jealousy or whatever was going on with them. I repeat the comment of hahn23. This stood out as one to meet the challenge exactly. Great control (avoidance)of whites and blacks. Had I voted, this would have received a 9 or even 10 from me, and I give out only a few of these per challenge if any sometimes. But I will not give out a 1-2 and rarely a 3. If a photo is an apparent smack in the face to the challenge or voting community, I do not give it a low score, I just don't vote on it. But again that is an entrant that seems to be going out of their way be to go against the grain or rules etc.etc. I see too many great or good shots ending up with these 1s AND 2s. Yours did not deserve this.

This really says gray to me. Great job on control (avoidance) of the whites and blacks. Fits the challenge very well. 9

The desat works for me in this as a grey image. Very nice perspective - love the shot!

Beautiful work. Highly surreal. Would like a lesson on how you manipulated the original to produce the final image.

This is outstanding, but I have read and re-read the description and to me it should be a color photo with grey. Am I wrong?

Wonderful picture. Love the movement, the shapes, the detail. But though transformed to B/W, it doesn't capture "grey" to me. High marks for quality of shot, dinged for not being something naturally gray.

Nice and Grey, even your shadows are grey here, good job. HDR is the way to go in this challenge I think.
