so sad... mainly considering that the D700 didnt even exists in feb 2008...

Beautiful photo, anyway. Gongrats!

This is my favorite of the challenge. I under the reason for the rule, but the disqualification that doesn't detract from the eye catching quality of the image.

Ohhhhh. . . I am so sorry about the dq. But I join the chorus in saying what an inspiration your portraits are.
02/10/2009 11:24:24 AM
Bah. I was actually going to show this photo to someone and point it out as "Now THIS is a good photograph." I was dismayed to see it got DQ'ed on a technicality.

It could be worse; I once got to my university right after they stopped handing out free hot dogs.

Just checked out your website and your portraits are absolutely superb. The lighting and their expressions - brilliant!!

Ruth,
I am sorry to hear about your dq mishap. Your picture is beautiful! I just checked out your website. Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous, I really enjoyed them. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you!

This is an amazing shot and was unfortunate to be DQed. Please please please don't let cynics in threads put you off from DPC. If you stay you'll see the good side. Plus we'll have the benefit of seeing some more of your wonderful shots :-)

Too bad about the timing, but it's still a terrific image!!!

Hi Matthew.
I lit this in my favorite spot - just inside the open front door. The light there is diffuse, but bright. My favorite shot to take closeup portraits. Works anywhere, anytime. :-)

Sorry to hear about the DQ, it really hurts especially when you know it was taken for the challenge. My only 7.0 image was DQ'd for a wrong date so I know how it feels, I actually set the year wrong when I was checkeing to make sure I had the time set right....I can laugh now but it really hurt when it happened. Still a beautiful image!
02/09/2009 03:10:31 PM

Very unlucky.
Beautiful shot all the same.

It was definitely taken with the D700. Sorry - I did not realize I still had the D200 set as default in my info. I corrected it.
