Sorry the horizon isn’t tilted enough, I had to really force myself to
tilt it as far as I did ;-)
Thanks for the helpful comments, I’m pleased you liked the image. I had been out running quite early that morning and ran past this pond and thought how beautifully frosty it looked in the rosy morning light (no swan). After I got back from my run I decided the pond scene would make a decent shot for this challenge and drove back over. Unfortunately, the good light had gone but I still got a couple of o.k. shots when suddenly this swan flew over to the only spot on the pond which wasn’t frozen over. It then started to break its way through the ice by raising itself up and breaking the ice with its chest. It was so fascinating, I watched it for ages before thinking about taking a photo of it (go figure ;-)

Can’t say how pleased I am to (AT LAST) get the very coveted posthumous ribbon. I nearly fell off my seat with shock/delight when I saw I’d been awarded the Yellow. My husband said “it’s just a yellow hand, don’t get so excited”. I replied “it’s not just A yellow hand, it’s THE yellow hand”….(thank God he’s very seldom fazed by my strange remarks ;-))

This is stunning...what a sight this would have been. I can understand why you stood there for so long before taking a photo...well done.

Congratulations Irene! Not only on the Yellow Hand, and a cool shot, but the opportunity to watch the swan break the ice in the first place. AND the opportunity to make your husband wonder just a bit about your sanity and the whole Yellow Hand bit.

Congratulations on the Yellow, Irene! It's great to see the same patience you use in your kitchen creations pay off outdoors. I especially like how the slightly tilted horizon and the leaning tree transforms this swan's figurative "uphill battle" into a literal one.

It's a beautiful photo, but I don't think the tilted horizon adds to it.

Lovely looking picture, not quite tilted enough IMO

Nice capture, but not tilted enough to be visually interesting for this challenge. Almost looks like you just have unintentional sloping. I do realy like the contrast of the swan/ice/icy trees.

or confined....although there is a slight tilt...I will not count that against you...as I really like the B&W (composition) of your shot.

The tilt makes this less sedate, less somber, than it would have been otherwise. That's a good thing, imho. I love the "color" of this photo. Posthumous Yellow Ribbon.

This is a great shot, but I don't think you will score very high because the key of the is picture is not a Tilted Horizon... This shot would look good in the new Calendar challenge

This is a great shot, but it doesn't scream tilted to me.
