Snowshoe Hare, Lepus americanus, in the forest above Bear Lake, RMNP. Winter coloration in the deep snow of February. Will convert to forest brown by May. One of the smallest and shiest of the hares... but 4X the size of the common cottontail rabbit. This one was friendly enough to pose for a portrait. His very large hind feet (heavily furred) explain his name. I was standing on snowshoes myself! This was a tripod mount shot from about 15'. I was able to get that close because he didn't think I could see him.

FWIW...I didn't even notice the green until I read this post !

Fabulous work not overexposing this. Great high-key work.

What a cutie! The little bits of color really help to make this guy stand out, but the white fur stands out just enough on its own. Wonder what happened to the little guys ear! Great job!

This is absolutely adorable!!! I'm never lucky enough to find stuff like this when I go for a walk in the woods.

Very nice - I'm can't decide if I would like it better without the greenery in the lower right. I think it either needs to be gone or more of it. -9-

I just went back and was looking at comments, don't know what that 7 was about but while I'm here...Nice separation of the rabbit and the snow, many seemed to be over-exposed the BG to achieve this. The only problem I have is the green branch sneaking in.

Very good photo but it looses some with the shrubbery in the bottom right corner.

I was hoping to see this white bunny again. One of my highest scored. He or she is beautiful.

Excellent DOF and sharpness. The bright spot of snow really holds your focus where it should be in the upper part of the frame... away from the bush creeping in from the lower right, heh.

Sweet shot. Would have liked some more detail on the face. The lighting is also a bit too even, lessening the visual appeal.

How wonderful. Wish that green blur weren't in the corner. 7

I wish that green portion was not in the lower right corner because that is one cute bunny!!
