This was a last minute, literally, entry. So I didn't have much time for indepth processing. I made a fast b/w conversion using ACR converter. Slight crop, sized and smart sharpen.

Thank you all for the comments and FAVS! WOW!

WOW! Two Favorites!! Woot!

Thank you all for your comments and votes! This was a last minute entry, I was traveling and had almost forgot to enter. I literally had 10 minutes to find and prep an image before the deadline. So, it was a quick photoshop b/w conversion, maybe a slight crop, nothing else by way of processing.

If the eyes are the window to our soul then horses are often the key to our hearts. They are such noble, honest creatures.

I thought for sure this would fare much better. Lovely detail in this shot! I scored it an 8. No Shame in knowing that you have an excellent pic here.

What works for me are the wisps of his main sweeping across his face. Beautiful. A small nitpick - I might've toned down that reflection on his halter to the lower left of his eye. It competes a bit with his catch light and creates an invisible diagonal line. :~) 7

Well, I love horse photographs and take a lot myself, and I have found that some of the most radical crops/compositions are surprisingly effective. You have too. This is very powerful and, as your title suggests, engaging.
