Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di for Nikon
Location: Toronto
Date: Nov 23, 2008
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: Various
Galleries: Urban, High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Date Uploaded: Mar 5, 2009

Taken at the Don Valley Brickworks in Toronto this fall.

This area was actually quite dark with only a faint beam of light coming from the ceiling so I chose to make it into an HDR from 9 exposures. The only transformations applied to this image where tone mapping to enhance details and punch up the colors. No cropping or selection tools used.

Wonder if that attention tape was put there to point out the beauty of that particular part of the graffiti wall. I like the contrast between the graffiti on metal vs. on bricks. Interesting photo.
03/14/2009 09:54:33 PM
The colors look unnatural. I like the angle.

Fantastic editing! Love the lighting!

Nice perspective.
03/14/2009 11:06:54 AM
you could have almost gotten rid of everything from the middle to the right as it doesn't add to the left side of the photo...that is interesting
03/14/2009 09:50:03 AM
Beautiful light on this nice colored graffiti.

I know this spot, it's the brick works in Toronto :) I have many shots of this myself and one in my portfolio. What a fantastic place for natural light and texture, don't you think? Your shot looks a little soft to me and perhaps a longer exposure or deeper DoF would have made this pop more. Just my thoughts. If you ever looking for a shooting partner just feel free to give me a PM (after voting, of course) and if you like we could set something up :)

All the best to you and yours.

MAX!

interesting palette
03/12/2009 12:29:08 AM
Almost brilliant. Maybe in closer, wider angle, and a application of LUCIS Art woudl help enormously!
03/11/2009 10:20:11 PM
Great gritty shot but I think just slightly more head on to show a little less reflection on the wall and a little more graffiti might have kicked it up a touch more.

Don Valley Brickworks? I have been there once before, and loved it. Great photography to be had in there, as your picture shows.

nice shot
03/11/2009 08:24:36 AM
Better than a snapshot with the perspective. Maybe try adding a human element to spice up the shot
03/11/2009 07:29:31 AM
The yellow tape on the door is intriguing ... maybe I've been watching too much CSI!
03/11/2009 06:42:48 AM
well exposed, but nothing that really stands out here
03/11/2009 03:10:13 AM
Leading lines are strong, both through the length of the photograph and with the police tape. Has a journalistic quality.

A tighter crop may have improved this,,, the space to the right does not add to the photo for me.
